Trains in the mall

I suppose the content of this blog is aimed at my dad more than anyone else. I didn't take more pictures because I felt awkward taking pictures of the rooms with my cellphone. Maybe I'll go back and take more next time we're out there.

Anyhow, the mall near where I live has two "stores" that are dedicated to trains instead of shopping. The one is a train museum and the other has model trains set up.

Inside of the museum there are a lot of old signs, railroad pieces, documents, uniforms, and other things. I was told that the museum contains artifacts from the South Carolina railroad. I don't know a lot about it, so I'm not going to pretend that I do. Here is a sign they had in the museum:

If you go to www.scrm.org you can find out more. The website even has the schedule of the trains that run on the renovated track. There is also www.bestfriendofcharleston.org

Next door to the museum is where the Charleston Area Model Railroad Club has several model trains set up. They have at least 3 tables with different scale trains running through different track setups. The room is also full several people willing to talk to anyone about their model trains and trains in general.

The trains are set up permanently and some even have mountain scenery with tunnels. I didn't take a picture of that... but here is a picture of another table of trains!
That one does have some scenery, but not the hilly mountainous area.

I think there were two more tables that I didn't take pictures of. The website for the club has plenty of pictures for you to look at: http://www.chamrc.com/
