Old Things

It's been flooding here lately due to a lot of rain. I'm told that downtown was very flooded yesterday, so I'm glad we went last weekend and not this week! We're no where near any of the flooding, so it's not affecting us at all. We just end up with a wet doggie when we take him for a walk. Luckily, he was given a bath lately and he doesn't smell.

Now for some more pictures of Charleston!

One of the first things we saw while walking around downtown was a cobblestone road. I almost hurt myself walking on it. These were apparently made for horse feet and not human feet.

There are a lot of lovely buildings in Charleston. Even the main buildings for the shops lining the streets were nice. The one here is even for lease, if you are interested.

There are several very nice, old houses down there as well. They get a plaque if they are old enough and important enough. Like this.

Here is a front view of the house.

I think the side view is better. It shows just how big the house is. (And look! More palm trees!)

We walked by that house because I heard church bells and wanted to go see the church. Right next to the house was the church I heard. I guess it was rebuilt.

I really like this picture I took of it.
The sky is so nice and blue. Very peaceful.

And this is for Rachel. It's a picture of the Charleston Library Society (http://www.charlestonlibrarysociety.org/).
Lots of books in there, according to the library website. But membership seems to be expensive. There is a public library somewhere, I just haven't tried to find it yet.
